NORINA (A Norwegian Inventory of Alternatives)

NORINA is an English-language database containing information on over 3,800 audiovisual aids that may be used as alternatives or supplements to the use of animals in teaching and training, including dissection alternatives, at all levels from junior school to University.  The information in the database has been collected from 1991 until the present.

NORINA has been developed by Senior Consultant Karina Smith here at the Laboratory Animal Unit.  A selection of records in the database is updated at least 4 times a week.  Please use the Feedback facility in the right hand margin if you find outdated information or wish to make us aware of products not cited in NORINA.

Databases on alternatives: What is available and how are they used?

The information in NORINA and in our other database, TextBase, complements each other. TextBase contains information on more than 1,000 textbooks within laboratory animal science and related subjects. We strongly suggest a search in TextBase if you do not find the information you seek in NORINA, and vice versa.

While we make every effort to keep the information in these databases updated, we cannot accept responsibility for factual errors, including availability and price.
We do not supply the products in NORINA or TextBase ourselves. Please always contact the supplier for the latest information before you order.
