Description: This is an interactive multimedia education and training program for training staff to answer common client questions about the routine surgical procedures that take place during spay, neuter and declaw operations without interrupting the veterinarians or technicians. It is a self-paced presentational format with graphic screen presentations. The staff will learn: What is involved in a spay, neuter and declaw operation; Identify important steps to a successful elective surgery and explain what is done at each step: physical exam (why is it done, why is it recommended), pre-operative blood work (CBC, Serum Profile - understand the importance, and what is being evaluated), anaesthetic induction and maintenance of patient (how and why is it done), surgical clip and preparation (what and why is it done), surgery itself (what is a sterile environment and why is it important), and finally recovery (what is involved); The reasons for each procedure (spay, neuter, declaw) and dispel any "myths" associated with each procedure; Post-operative requirements of each procedure; Potential complications (aspects of each procedure that may complicate surgery and possibly increase costs); Understand and be able to use the medical terms, prefixes and suffixes associated with these procedures; Answer common client questions. This product includes audio, video, animation, illustrations/images and text. The team may complete the built-in self-assessment test and send the results to Lifelearn to collect 1 hour of continuing education credits and a Certificate of Completion. Lifelearn's practice licence allows all team members to use the program and collect CE (Continuing Education).
