This package comprises three separate modules which together provide an introduction to cell structure and function. Contents: 1 The Eukaryote Cell: The module makes extensive use of 3D graphics and animations in explaining the structure and function of typical animal and plant cells and their organelles. The module provides an extended navigation system which utilises both the standard PCCAL paging model and click/touch sensitive cell diagrams for direct access to information about specific organelles and features. The package deals with the following topics: Cellular membranes; Cell organelles; Chromosome structure; Differences between typical plant and animal cells; 2 Prokaryote/Eukaryote Differences: This module compares and contrasts the features found in the eukaryote and prokaryote cell and discusses examples from different kingdoms of the classification system; 3 Animal Tissue Structure: This module explores the differentiation of the cell into specific animal cell and tissue types. It provides an introduction to the following tissue types: Epithelial tissues; Glandular epithelia; Exocrine glands; Endocrine glands; Connective tissues; Smooth, heart and skeletal muscle; Neurone structure.
Comments & References: Available in Windows and Web/Intranet Versions. The package is supplied on a CD-ROM. For System Requirements, please see http://www.coacs.com/PCCAL/products/pccal17.htm. Produced by Welsh School of Pharmacy.
