INVITATION
Dear Colleagues
You are warmly invited to participate in the 29th Scand-LAS symposium and meeting, 'Science and Responsibility' in Mariehamn, Åland, May 6-9, 1999. FinLAS is pleased to organize the meeting.
The program will include sessions with topics of current interest: Evaluation of quality, toxicology in vivo and in vitro and safety in society. There will be invited lectures, round-table discussions, posters and oral presentations. You can choose presentations in one of the three symposium languages (English, Finnish, Scandinavian). We are also honoured to inaugurate the First Karl-Johan Öbrink Memorial lecture which will be given by Professor Gerald van Hoosier, Washington State University.
During the meeting you will have ample opportunity to visit an exhibition updating you on the recent developments in laboratory animal equipment and laboratory animals. In the evenings, you can join a lively social program, meet old friends and colleagues, and meet new colleagues and make new friends.
Åland is a beautiful geographical location and spring time is a very attractive period in Åland. The symposium venue, the Parliament House of Åland, is located in the heart of Mariehamn, with a great maritime atmosphere. The conference hotels are located next to the Parliament within walking distance to the conference site.

INBJUDAN

KUTSU
Hyvä Kollega
Toivotamme sinut lämpimästi tervetulleeksi Scand-LASin 29. symposiumiin ja kokoukseen, 'Science and Responsibility'. Symposium pidetään Maarianhaminassa, Ahvenanmaalla 6-9 toukokuuta 1999. Kokouksen järjestäjänä toimii Suomen koe-eläintieteilijät, FinLAS ry.
Symposium tarjoaa useita ajankohtaisia aiheita käsitteleviä rinnakkaissessioita: laatustandardit koe-eläinyksikössä, toksikologia in vivo ja in vitro, turvallisuuden uhkatekijät. Ohjelmassa on kutsuttujen puhujien esityksiä, keskusteluja, postereita ja lyhyitä suullisia esityksiä. Voit valita jonkin kolmesta kokouskielestä: suomi, ruotsi, englanti. Meillä on myös kunnia kutsua symposiumiimme ensimmäisen Karl-Johan Öbrink -muistoluennon pitäjä, professori Gerald van Hoosier Washington State Universitysta.
Kokouksen aikana on mahdollisuus tutustua alan tarvikenäyttelyyn ja uutuuksiin. Illoiksi on järjestetty vapaamuotoisempaa ohjelmaa, jolloin voit tavata vanhoja ja uusia ystäviä ja kollegoja.
Kokouspaikka, Ahvenanmaan Parlamenttitalo, sijaitsee merihenkisen Maarianhaminan sydämessä. Kokoushotellit ovat miellyttävän kävelyetäisyyden päässä Parlamenttitalosta.
